Stelbel Cento

Stelbel Cento is a limited edition frame that celebrates the great relationship between STELBEL, an Italian artisanal frame builder (founded by Stelio Belleti in Bergamo in 1973), and its mot important partner, COLUMBUS Tubi (Columbus is the biggest and most famous steel tubing manufacturer in Italy, known worldwide for their extremely light and well-manufactured products).

Stelbel Cento is a project which celebrates Columbus’s 100 years of production. Stelbel created a frame from their Cento series tubing and have produced with its our signature TIG welding style. The bottom bracket shell and other small details are embellished with customary Stelbel engravings. The cabling is fully internal, referring to design solution from the Strada Super and Dynamic models.
Stelbel Cento represents a limited edition run of 19 custom frames and each comes with a polished brass plate with the individual number branded on it.
The graphic finishes are the work of designer Marco Franceschini, who developed a paint scheme that would celebrate another illustrious birthday that took place in 2019; that of the “Bauhaus,” the famous German artistic and design movement. This project is a nod to Columbus’s commitment to the design sector, in particular furniture made from the 1920s and 1930s, and from Antonio Colombo’s passion for all things art which is often reflected in the wonderful work of the company.
The particular rendering of the Stelbel Cento, number 13/19, is a tribute to Walter Gropius’ (the founder of Bauhaus) Bauhaus Dessau, the site of the second Bauhaus school, considered the pinnacle of pre-war modern design in Europe, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Bauhaus Dessau was the school that shaped the great Master of Modern Architecture and Design, Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe.
The frame is executed in a monochromatic paint scheme with base and logos rendered in tones of Grey that match the Dessau building’s façade. Faithful to the design dictum that “less is more,” the ensemble of frame and components have a minimalist aesthetic, signaling an absolute absence of ornamentation. This limited edition frame is fitted with Campagnolo Super Record 12 and  Campagnolo WTO Carbon wheels with customized Stelbel Cento logos, made exclusively for the 13/19 edition of this project.
