On January 1st, 2019 a new customer walked through the door of Brickell Bikes trying to get a feel for our shop to decide if he could trust us with the contents of a large cardboard box in his car. After quizzing us for a while, he said he’d be right back. Just a few moments later, Alfredo Garcia walked back in with that large cardboard box containing a Litespeed logo on the side. We knew this would be a great day at the shop, and the start of an amazing year.
We opened the box to discover a stunning Litespeed T1SL – and now we were the ones quizzing Alfredo. He owned a number of big-named carbon bikes up until now, but was itching for something unique, American-made, and genuinely special.
We put the bike up on the stand and all just stood there for a moment staring. I couldn’t help myself though and began discussing minor upgrades we could make to take this beauty to the next level. After some back and forth we decided some well-curated red accents would really pop against the iconic Litespeed decals and raw titanium finish of the bike. Naturally, a red Chris King headset with matching spacers was in order, along with a lightweight red seatpost clamp, red Rapha Limited Edition saddle, Silca bartape, and latex tubes were exactly what this bike needed.
Alfredo has put plenty of miles on his T1SL since that day, and every time he brings his Litespeed into the shop, we can’t help but get a little giddy. Once he leaves the shop an argument inevitably breaks out over who is going to get to work on this bike. Alfredo always offers to let me take her for a spin, but I’m not ready to become obsessed with ordering a T1SL of my own!
